The campsite Derek found was a manmade oasis outside of Dubai called Al Qudra Lakes. There were several other families there, but most did not stay the night. It was a bit on the noisy side, but incredibly beautiful. A great place for a family's first camping experience with hundreds of birds to watch, some cool beetles, and lots of sprawling sand dunes to let the kids run free.
The boys had fun walking around the lakes, checking out the flamingos and swans, playing with Owen's remote control car, running around the sand dunes, and cooking over a fire.
We had a wonderful time, and learned a lot about what we need for an even more successful trip next time. Maybe we'll try out one of these campsites next time!
Like last year, I interviewed Owen on his birthday this year. Here are his responses.
I added a few questions this year.
22. If you could visit any place in the world, where would you like to go? Canada because I have a lot of friends from there.
23. If you have $1 million dollars, what would you do with it? I would buy a house and a fast racing car.
I can't wait to see what seven has in store for Owen!
