Here we are. Fifty-six flights later for the boys and entering our fifth year of international education. It's not the life we had planned, but we aren't changing it any time soon. We love living internationally.
Derek an I also celebrated our tenth anniversary at the beginning of the school year. It's hard to believe we've been married for a decade already because it seems like just yesterday we were still in college, hanging out at The Thirsty Parrot. I can't wait to see where we are ten years from now.
Both boys were very excited to start the school year. Owen is now in Grade 2, and Oliver started at the "Big Kid" school this year in KG1 (which is a pre-kindergarten class). They both had a great first week of school and love their teachers. It is so nice to have them both on campus now.
The school year is off to a busy start, as usual here in Abu Dhabi. It is astonishing though how much easier the start of the second year is compared to the first. No settling in, no figuring out where to buy food, no waiting around for the internet guy or IKEA delivery van. We know the school, the community, and the city fairly well at this point, and, more importantly, we know who to ask when we have questions.
We are all looking forward to another great year in Abu Dhabi! (Now, if only the weather would start to cool down a bit...)
Our school's PTA hosts an annual gala for the school community. Derek and I enjoyed getting all dressed up for such a fancy event. Such fun to see so many of the people invested in our school together!
