Owen turned five this year! I can not believe that our tiny, three-pound preemie is already five years old. In those first few weeks in the NICU, I never would have dreamed to imagine Owen turning into such a happy, healthy young man.
Since his last birthday, Owen has learned to ice skate, learned to roller skate, gone skiing, been on several airplane rides, visited three different countries, started to read a few words, learned how to write, learned how to swim, learned how to speak a little bit of Vietnamese, and so much more.
I am so proud of how considerate Owen always is; he cares a lot about other human beings (and animals). He has also started to become very funny. Some of it is very typical five-year-old-boy humor, but we also get some very clever jokes. He's pretty well behaved most of the time, but he is starting to push us a little bit more at home.
He is a great big brother to Oliver--he is patient most of the time and understands that Oliver just wants to be like him.
We love our sweet little dude. He is a delight to be around. I am excited to bring him home next summer to show everyone how much he has grown (both physically and developmentally).
Owen's Birthday Party
Owen had a pool party for his birthday on Saturday. We had a bunch of wonderful families join us for snacks, cake, and a good time in the pool. It was fun to watch Owen play with all his new friends.
