St. Peter's was amazing to behold, but it was incredibly crowded. I didn't think it could get much worse, but then we went to the Sistine Chapel. Seriously, the number of people is astounding! But it makes sense why they are all there. The Vatican Museums and the Sistine Chapel are worth any crowd.
The walk to get to the Sistine Chapel is long, made longer by the masses of people, but it is well worth it. The pictures above are not from the Sistine Chapel, as photography is strictly forbidden in that room. Nope, these are just along the walk to get there. Everywhere you turn, there is another priceless sculpture, painting, or tapestry. A few of the tapestries really freaked out Oliver, but otherwise I think the boys enjoyed seeing the artwork. Owen couldn't believe that some of the work was a painting because it looked so real.
The Vatican is a sincerely beautiful place, filled with history and art. I would love to go back someday when it is a bit less busy to spend some more time in the museums. Maybe when the boys are a bit older...
